5 Café Hotspots in Windhoek

Updated: Apr 28, 2020

Hi there stranger, my name is Julia and I’m 24 years old. I spent three and a half months in Namibia from the beginning of September until mid of December 2019 doing an internship at a local school and exploring the beautiful country. During my stay I met wonderful people who showed me around Windhoek and gave me the opportunity to get to know nice places like wonderful cafés. And what is better than enjoying a nice piece of cake and a Chai Latté with your friends while soaking up the Namibian sun?! Windhoek has a great range of cafés with delicious food and many options, even for those of you who are vegetarian or vegan. I’m sure, that you’ll find a café that you would like to visit. I once heard: “food is a way to a heart” and I couldn’t agree more. So, enjoy my recommendations and feel free to comment down below if you have any questions.

1. Mugg & Bean

You can find Mugg & Bean in: Wernhill Park, The Grove and Maerua Mall. They offer breakfast to whatever time you choose. They have several lunch and snack options. In the branch at Wernhill you can sit on their terrace from where you can also enjoy a view over the town centre.

2. Wilde Eend

Located in a small pristine spot of Klein Windhoek, Wilde Eend is surrounded by beautiful trees. Enjoy a nice piece of cake and a Milo Milkshake to sweeten your day ;)

3. Olivia's Kitchen

Within a beautiful complex with several Restaurants like Cape Town Fishmarket and Butcher’s Block, you will find Olivia’s Kitchen. Their smoothie bowls are phenomenal. They also have an own bakery within their café, so buy a freshly baked roll and enjoy it on your way to your next sunset spot.

4. Droombos

A little outside from the centre of Windhoek, near Avis Damm, you will find a beautiful spot to not only enjoy a nice piece of cake, but also take pictures. The garden-like environment can offer you a nice Instagram shot.

5. Craft Café Namibia

What can be more perfect than taking seat at a café just a staircase away after you bought souvenirs for your family and friends. The German lady who owns the place values good customer service and offers various healthy options within her menu. You can find the Craft Café and Market in the town centre.
